Thanks for providing this opportunity Dr. Sherman! I have many questions for SAS and would love to know who to contact outside of this Trade Show. It is difficult to get information other than the Chair refresher workshops--which are terrific by the way! I need some simple instructions on how to proceed as a first time chair. I have two students I want to work with. Thanks so much for any information you can provide!

Hi, Sandy.
Dr. Fran Nelson oversees the start-up program for first time Chairs. Have you been in contact with her?

Ken, I am enjoying the opportunity to learn more and have already made one contact that is willing to accept/look at a case study I am completing.
Dr. Phil. :-)

Hi all,
Has anyone published with SAGE Open?
I am looking for some publishing venues for my students--I'm providing them some of my research data and having them write the research article and submit for publication.
I'm a little cautious, as I have never published in a journal that requires a fee, and a colleague and I just considered doing so and had a HORRIBLE experience. We withdrew our article.

Hi Leslie,
I have not published with SAGE Open, but their site states, "Authors who do not have the means to cover the publication fee may request a waiver after acceptance." Would you mind providing some of the horrible experience? While I have not published in a journal that requires a fee, I have entertained doing so.

Hi Paul,
After attending the SIOP conference, Dr. Rouse and I received an invitation to publish one of our papers in Psychology Research (David Publishing Company). We were planning on submitting to Teaching of Psychology, but thought that we might explore an open access journal, for wider distribution. We checked the publisher website and the journal seemed credible and was peer reviewed. We submitted the article and within very few days (2 I think) our article was accepted. This seemed strange, so Dr. Rouse engaged in conversation with them, asking to see the reviewer's feedback, etc. They would not share it with us, stating we would see the editor's comments when the article went to publication (or some comment like that0. Also, the phone number provided did not seem to be a business number. To make a long story short, we withdrew our paper and they said they would waive the fee (it was like $800) if that was the issue. That made us even more hesitant. We also found the information below from the Chronicle.
chronicle.com/blogs/letters/sound-research-cannot-bolster-a-dubious-journal/
I'm just very cautious after that experience:(
We've resubmitted to Teaching of Psychology.

Ken, Diane, are we going to be able to save this link and go back to it other times? Or is it just alive for today and yesterday. I couldnt get into this until this evening and I really wanted more to time to read and ask questions. What does Membership mean?

Hi Ken,
Thanks for offering this. I hope you'll do it again and be able to convince some leadership journals to participate - two I would think would be easy to convince to participate would be:
The Journal of Leadership Studies and the Integral Leadership Review as they each have clear SAS ties!
